Indian markets ended the volatile session flat on Monday ahead of GDP data due later in the day and the central bank's monetary policy meet on Tuesday. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a rise of 17.47 points or 0.07% at 26,145.67, 12 components registering rise. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a decline of 7.45 points or 0.09%, at 7,935.25.29 components posting drop.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Infosys (2.08%), ICICI Bank (1.67%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.41%), Tata Motors (1.39%), Bajaj Auto (1.34%), and Tata Power Company (0.91%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (2.09%), Vedanta (1.96%), Coal India (1.65%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.26%), NTPC (1.21%), and Reliance Industries (1.13%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,599 advances against 1,069 declines.
