Indian markets ended lower on Tuesday erasing earlier gains. The broad based Nifty traded near 1-month low. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex lost 67.28 or 0.20% at 32,802.44 with 23 components posting drop. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a decline of 9.50 points or 0.09%, at 10,118.25 with 37 components registering drop.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Hero Motocorp (2.31%), Wipro (2.29%), Tata Steel (1.71%), NTPC (1.70%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.61%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.52%).
On the other hand, State Bank Of India (1.92%), Bharti Airtel (1.18%), Reliance Industries (1.11%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.52%), ICICI Bank (0.38%), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.27%) were the major gainers in the Sensex
Market breadth was negative with 1,027 advances against 1,419 declines.
Biocon topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 576.69 million. It was followed by Reliance Industries (Rs. 471.23 million), Shankara Building Products (Rs. 384.73 million) and Infosys (Rs. 304.30 million).
The volume chart was led by Morepen Laboratories with trades of over 2.25 million shares. It was followed by Adani Power (1.97 million), Gitanjali Gems (1.30 million) and Jai Corp (1.26 million).
