Sensex ends 60 points lower; Nifty settles at 10,528-level

Indian markets ended lower on Monday erasing earlier gains. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex lost 60.73 or 0.17% at 34,950.92 with 16 components registering drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went down by 24.80 or 0.24% at 10,528.20 with 27 components registering drop.

Biggest losers in the 30-share index were NTPC (2.72%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (2.18%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.59%), Hero Motocorp (1.54%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.46%).

On the other hand, State Bank Of India (3.45%), Axis Bank (2.35%), Wipro (1.52%), Reliance Industries (1.33%), Bajaj Auto (0.94%), and Coal India (0.86%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 1,175 advances against 1,169 declines.

Reliance Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 5,499.42 million. It was followed by Yes Bank (Rs. 531.79 million), Jet Airways (India) (Rs. 317.69 million) and NTPC (Rs. 288.65 million).

The volume chart was led by Reliance Industries with trades of over 5.05 million shares. It was followed by Infibeam Avenues (4.10 million), Yes Bank (2.53 million) and NTPC (1.88 million).
