Sensex ends 310 points higher; Nifty settles over 10,750-level

Indian markets ended higher on Wednesday snapping earlier losses. Both Sensex and Nifty traded at a new life time high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 310.77 or 0.89% at 35,081.82 with 19 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 88.10 or 0.82% at 10,788.55 with 34 components registering rise.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Axis Bank (4.65%), State Bank Of India (3.44%), ICICI Bank (2.68%), Infosys (2.61%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.44%), and Larsen & Toubro (2.19%).

On the other hand, Wipro (1.85%), HDFC Bank (0.88%), Hero Motocorp (0.80%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.74%), Hindustan Unilever (0.68%), and Tata Power Company (0.53%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 1,333 advances against 1,312 declines.

Tata Motors topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,147.57 million. It was followed by R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 516.72 million), Spicejet (Rs. 474.61 million) and Rain Industries (Rs. 417.61 million).

The volume chart was led by Unitech with trades of over 19.22 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (10.24 million), Spicejet (3.80 million) and Hindustan Construction Company (3.35 million).
