Indian equities ended lower on Wednesday. Both Sensex and Nifty traded below 1-month low. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex declined 205.26 or 0.63% at 32,597.18 with 24 components posting drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty fell by 74.15 or 0.73% at 10,044.10 with 42 components registering drop.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.31%), State Bank Of India (2.21%), ICICI Bank (1.96%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.78%), Bajaj Auto (1.65%), and Tata Power Company (1.52%).
On the other hand, Reliance Industries (1.76%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.42%), Hindustan Unilever (1.05%), Infosys (0.61%), Coal India (0.26%), and Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.07%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 924 advances against 1,511 declines.
R*Shares Liquid BeES topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 672.69 million. It was followed by Shankara Building Products (Rs. 417.90 million), State Bank Of India (Rs. 298.45 million) and I T C (Rs. 294.43 million).
The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 7.54 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (4.96 million), G M R Infrastructure (2.13 million) and Everest Kanto Cylinder (1.77 million).
