Indian equities ended higher on Monday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 205.49 or 0.62% at 33,455.79 with 19 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 56.60 or 0.55% at 10,322.25 with 31 components posting rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (2.35%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.23%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (2.14%), Wipro (2.12%), Tata Power Company (2.07%), and Coal India (1.98%).
On the other hand, NTPC (1.36%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.78%), Reliance Industries (0.55%), Hindustan Unilever (0.48%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.42%), and Asian Paints (0.38%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,343 advances against 1,188 declines.
Maruti Suzuki India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 5,773.48 million. It was followed by Larsen & Toubro (Rs. 3,044.73 million), NBCC (India) (Rs. 1,997.85 million) and R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 1,677.45 million).
The volume chart was led by NBCC (India) with trades of over 7.86 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (3.09 million), Suzlon Energy (2.83 million) and J K Papers (2.74 million).
