Indian equities ended higher on Thursday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 160.69 or 0.47% at 34,101.13 with 14 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 41.50 or 0.40% at 10,458.65 with 18 components posting rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (4.04%), Infosys (3.41%), Axis Bank (1.63%), Tata Power Company (0.98%), ICICI Bank (0.83%), and Tata Motors (0.77%).
On the other hand, Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.97%), Tata Steel (1.51%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.48%), State Bank Of India (1.17%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.11%), and Maruti Suzuki India (1.07%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,077 advances against 1,337 declines.
IDBI Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 373.13 million. It was followed by R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 334.34 million), Infosys (Rs. 328.74 million) and Indian Oil Corporation (Rs. 306.24 million).
The volume chart was led by IDBI Bank with trades of over 5.23 million shares. It was followed by Kwality (2.53 million), Aplaya Creations (2.36 million) and Ashok Leyland (1.94 million).
