Indian equities ended higher on Thursday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 141.52 or 0.41% at 34,297.47 with 18 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 44.60 or 0.42% at 10,545.50 with 25 components posting rise.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were ICICI Bank (3.15%), Infosys (1.47%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.37%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (1.05%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.89%), and State Bank Of India (0.74%).

On the other hand, Hero Motocorp (1.85%), Tata Steel (1.20%), Bharti Airtel (1.15%), Cipla (1.04%), Tata Power Company (0.80%), and Larsen & Toubro (0.78%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 840 advances against 1,752 declines.

Punjab National Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,205.88 million. It was followed by PC Jeweller (Rs. 865.48 million), State Bank Of India (Rs. 807.07 million) and Bombay Dyeing and Manufacturing Company (Rs. 579.07 million).

The volume chart was led by Punjab National Bank with trades of over 17.19 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (8.57 million), Suzlon Energy (3.81 million) and Jaiprakash Associates (3.40 million).
