Indian markets continued to drop for the second day on Thursday. At 9.38 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 52.56 points or 0.16% at 33,783.18 with 15 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 17.05 points or 0.16% at 10,393.85.
Major losers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (1.04%), Bharti Airtel (0.98%), NTPC (0.94%), ICICI Bank (0.83%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.72%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.68%).
On the other hand, Wipro (2.44%), Hero Motocorp (1.27%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.18%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.87%), Tata Motors (0.59%), and Bajaj Auto (0.51%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 952 advances against 524 declines.
Indian Hotels Company topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 10,724.28 million. It was followed by Bajaj Electricals (Rs. 1,567.67 million), Tata Motors (Rs. 726.27 million) and Housing Development Finance Corporation (Rs. 576.70 million).
The volume chart was led by Indian Hotels Company with trades of over 79.06 million shares. It was followed by Bajaj Electricals (2.55 million), IDBI Bank (2.40 million) and Tata Motors (2.04 million).
