Indian markets continued to trade lower on Monday weighed down by metal, capital goods and consumer durables stocks. At 10.35 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 114.47 points or 0.41% at 27,843.03 with 21 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 21.80 points or 0.26% at 8,437.15 with 33 components falling.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (1.90%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.22%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.96%), H D F C Bank (0.28%), Reliance Industries (0.16%), and Maruti Suzuki India (0.15%).
On the other hand, I T C (2.41%), Vedanta (2.19%), Tata Steel (1.35%), Hindustan Unilever (1.14%), Tata Motors (1.12%), and Tata Power Company (0.99%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
The Metal index was at 9,784.25, down by 76.09 points or by 0.77%. The Capital Goods index was at 16,588.46, down by 65.46 points or by 0.39%. The Consumer Durables index was at 10,384.51, down by 17.16 points or by 0.16%. On the other hand, the Oil & Gas index was at 9,577.64, up by 80.61 points or by 0.85%.
Market breadth was negative with 954 advances against 918 declines.
