Indian markets ended lower on Thursday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex lost 150.20 or 0.44% at 33,685.54 with 20 components posting drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty declined by 50.75 or 0.49% at 10,360.15.
Major losers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (1.76%), I C I C I Bank (1.60%), Hindustan Unilever (1.48%), Tata Steel (1.46%), Axis Bank (1.23%), and State Bank Of India (1.13%).
On the other hand, Asian Paints (2.14%), H D F C Bank (0.79%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.67%), Coal India (0.66%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.50%), and Hero Motocorp (0.21%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,491 advances against 957 declines.
Central Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,344.24 million. It was followed by Tata Motors (Rs. 926.95 million), Indian Oil Corporation (Rs. 593.58 million) and Tata Steel (Rs. 501.01 million).
The volume chart was led by Jaiprakash Associates with trades of over 19.15 million shares. It was followed by Central Bank Of India (15.43 million), Punjab National Bank (4.27 million) and Indian Oil Corporation (3.09 million).
