Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the equity segment worth Rs 12.87 billion on both BSE, NSE and MCX-SX on September 4, as per provisional data available at the BSE. They bought equities worth Rs 34.95 billion and sold equities worth Rs 47.82 billion.
Meanwhile, domestic institutional investors (DIIs), which include banks, DFIs, insurance and MFs, were net buyers in the equity segment worth Rs 11.29 billion. They bought equities worth Rs 27.60 billion and sold equities worth Rs 16.31 billion.
Indian markets wrapped today's session on a dismal note tracking weak Asian markets. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading below 13-month low, amid continuous sell-off from foreign investors. Global markets were under pressure ahead of the crucial US jobs data.
At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex declined 562.88 points or 2.18% at 25,201.90 with 28 components registering drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went down by 165.45 points or 2.11% at 7,657.55.
