Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the equity segment worth Rs 10.90 billion on both BSE, NSE and MCX-SX on August 16, as per provisional data available at the BSE. They bought equities worth Rs 53.99 billion and sold equities worth Rs 64.89 billion.
On the other hand, domestic institutional investors (DIIs), which include banks, DFIs, insurance and MFs, were net buyers in the equity segment worth Rs 13.36 billion. They bought equities worth Rs 35.69 billion and sold equities worth Rs 22.32 billion.
Local stock markets ended higher on Wednesday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 321.86 or 1.02% at 31,770.89 with 22 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 103.15 or 1.05% at 9,897.30 with 35 components posting rise.
