European stocks trade higher

European stock markets are trading higher on Monday following a bullish session for markets in Japan as the strong U.S. dollar continues to define trading prospects for global financial markets.

Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 went up 1.71 points or 0.06 percent to trade at 3,022.54. UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 gained 16.70 points or 0.25 percent to trade at 6,792.47.

Meanwhile, Germany's benchmark index DAX gained 5.39 points or 0.05 percent to trade at 10,669.95. French benchmark index CAC 40 gained 5.33 points or 0.12 percent to trade at 4,509.68.

On Friday, European stock markets closed lower. Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 fell 20.96 points or 0.69 percent to settle at 3,020.83. UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 lost 18.94 points or 0.28 percent to close at 6,775.77.
