European stock markets closed mixed on Monday, as the world's oldest bank, Monte dei Paschi di Siena, looked to raise Euro 5 billion to stay afloat.
UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 gained 5.52 points or 0.08 percent to close at 7,017.16. Germany's benchmark index DAX rose 22.69 points or 0.2 percent to end at 11,426.70.
On the other hand, Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 lost 1.39 points or 0.04 percent to settle at 3,257.85. French benchmark index CAC 40 fell 10.50 points or 0.22 percent to end at 4,822.77.
