European stock markets settled lower on Friday, as big gains for Unilever PLC and Essentra PLC helped offset drops by Dutch storage company Royal Vopak NV and German insurer Allianz SE.
Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 lost 2.23 points or 0.07 percent to settle at 3,308.81. Germany's benchmark index DAX 0.22 points to end at 11,757.02. French benchmark index CAC 40 lost 31.88 points or 0.65 percent to end at 4,867.58.
On the other hand, UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 went up 22.04 points or 0.3 percent to close at 7,299.96.
