European stock markets closed lower on Tuesday, analysts blaming the selling in part on a surging euro as investors sifted through a mixed round of corporate updates.
Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 lost 32.04 points or 0.98 percent to settle at 3,230.68. UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 fell 19.33 points or 0.27 percent to close at 7,099.15.
Meanwhile, Germany's benchmark index DAX lost 146.58 points or 1.25 percent to end at 11,535.31. French benchmark index CAC 40 fell 35.74 points or 0.75 percent to end at 4,748.90.
