European stock markets closed lower on Thursday. Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 lost 7.02 points or 0.21 percent to settle at 3,319.13.

UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 lost 2.94 points or 0.04 percent to close at 7,161.49. French benchmark index CAC 40 declined 10.43 points or 0.21 percent to end at 4,867.24.

On the other hand, Germany's benchmark index DAX went up 42.58 points or 0.36 percent to end at 11,848.63.
