European stock markets settled lower on Monday as investors awaited more detail on the U.K.'s Brexit plan and the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump in the U.S. later this week.
Europe's leading Blue-chip index, EURO STOXX 50 lost 29.81 points or 0.9 percent to settle at 3,294.53. UK's benchmark index FTSE 100 fell 10.68 points or 0.15 percent to close at 7,327.13.
Meanwhile, Germany's benchmark index DAX declined 74.47 points or 0.64 percent to end at 11,554.71. French benchmark index CAC 40 fell 40.31 points or 0.82 percent to end at 4,882.18.
