Asian stock markets are trading mixed on Friday as shares of Japanese automobile airbag maker Takata jumped on a pending settlement with the U.S. Justice Department and Samsung fell as prosecutors zero in on the firm over bribery allegations.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 gained 78.55 points or 0.41 percent to trade at 19,213.25. Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 69.36 points or 0.3 percent to trade at 22,898.38. Singapore's Straits Times went up 19.14 points or 0.64 percent to trade at 3,012.14.
On the other hand, China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite lost 10.18 points or 0.33 percent to trade at 3,109.11. South Korea's KOSPI lost 8.69 points or 0.42 percent to trade at 2,078.45. Taiwan's TAIEX lost 35.44 points or 0.38 percent to trade at 9,374.74.
