Asian stock markets are trading lower on Thursday. China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite fell 2.91 points or 0.09 percent to trade at 3,238.22.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 130.05 points or 0.57 percent to trade at 22,546.64. Singapore's Straits Times lost 13.24 points or 0.47 percent to trade at 2,826.45. South Korea's KOSPI lost 14.79 points or 0.74 percent to trade at 1,973.16. Taiwan's TAIEX declined 28.68 points or 0.31 percent to trade at 9,149.55.

On the other hand, Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 gained 186.22 points or 1.03 percent to trade at 18,349.16.
