Asian stock markets are trading higher on Tuesday as a holiday in the United States left investors with few catalysts, while the euro nursed overnight losses as lingering concerns about the looming French election rattled its bonds.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 gained 87.17 points or 0.45 percent to trade at 19,338.25. China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite went up 9.55 points or 0.29 percent to trade at 3,249.51.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 43.81 points or 0.18 percent to trade at 24,189.89. South Korea's KOSPI went up 23.25 points or 1.12 percent to trade at 2,107.64.
On the other hand, Singapore's Straits Times lost 8.15 points or 0.26 percent to trade at 3,088.54. Taiwan's TAIEX lost 7.56 points or 0.08 percent to trade at 9,745.64.
