Asian stock markets closed mixed on Tuesday after the release of encouraging economic data from China and decisions by the Bank of Japan and the Reserve Bank of Australia to largely hold their policies steady.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 rose 17.38 points or 0.1 percent to settle at 17,442.40. China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite went up 21.94 points or 0.71 percent to close at 3,122.44. Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 212.53 points or 0.93 percent to end at 23,147.07.
On the other hand, Singapore's Straits Times lost 0.18 points or 0.01 percent to end at 2,813.69. South Korea's KOSPI fell 0.80 points or 0.04 percent to end at 2,007.39. Taiwan's TAIEX declined 17.42 points or 0.19 percent to end at 9,272.70.
