Asian stock markets closed lower on Friday amid worries over U.S. trade policies that may affect regional economies. A stronger yen weighed on Japan's exporters.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 fell 87.92 points or 0.45 percent to settle at 19,283.54. Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 149.16 points or 0.62 percent to end at 23,965.70.
Singapore's Straits Times lost 20.54 points or 0.65 percent to end at 3,117.03. South Korea's KOSPI fell 13.51 points or 0.64 percent to end at 2,094.12. Taiwan's TAIEX lost 18.84 points or 0.19 percent to end at 9,750.47.
On the other hand, China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite rose 2.06 points or 0.06 percent to close at 3,253.43.
