Asian stock markets closed lower on Monday as Takata was hit by the firm's agreement in the US to plead guilty to fraud and pay USD 1 billion (940 million euros) to settle its deadly airbag scandal.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 lost 192.04 points or 1 percent to settle at 19,095.24. China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite lost 9.34 points or 0.3 percent to close at 3,103.43. Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 219.23 points or 0.96 percent to end at 22,718.15.
Singapore's Straits Times declined 11.95 points or 0.4 percent to end at 3,013.12. South Korea's KOSPI lost 12.62 points or 0.61 percent to end at 2,064.17. Taiwan's TAIEX declined 86.50 points or 0.92 percent to end at 9,292.33.
