Asian stock markets closed higher on Monday, cheered by a positive report on the Japanese economy, as players awaited a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart later in the week.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 went up 73.97 points or 0.39 percent to settle at 18,983.23. China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite went up 12.28 points or 0.38 percent to close at 3,222.51. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 149.89 points or 0.62 percent to end at 24,261.48.
Singapore's Straits Times rose 12.40 points or 0.39 percent to end at 3,187.51. South Korea's KOSPI went up 7.28 points or 0.34 percent to end at 2,167.51. Taiwan's TAIEX fell 36.63 points or 0.37 percent to end at 9,811.52.
