Asian stock markets settled higher on Monday after the FBI director told lawmakers that the bureau had found no evidence to warrant criminal charges against presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in a trove of newly discovered emails.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 went up 271.85 points or 1.61 percent to settle at 17,177.21. China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite went up 8.02 points or 0.26 percent to close at 3,133.33. Hong Kong's Hang Seng went up 158.78 points or 0.7 percent to end at 22,801.40.
Singapore's Straits Times rose 12.15 points or 0.44 percent to end at 2,800.95. South Korea's KOSPI went up 15.56 points or 0.79 percent to end at 1,997.58. Taiwan's TAIEX rose 121.69 points or 1.34 percent to end at 9,189.84.
