Indian markets ended flat on Monday snapping earlier losses. The broad based Nifty traded near 1-month low. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 36.78 or 0.11% at 32,869.72 with 16 components registering rise. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a gain of 5.95 points or 0.06%, at 10,127.75 with 25 components posting rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Infosys (2.80%), Hindustan Unilever (1.37%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.25%), Tata Motors (1.06%), Tata Steel (1.03%), and Bharti Airtel (0.94%).
On the other hand, Coal India (2.09%), Asian Paints (1.02%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.95%), Reliance Industries (0.92%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.91%), and NTPC (0.75%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,101 advances against 1,460 declines.
Fortis Healthcare topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 431.96 million. It was followed by Infosys (Rs. 399.02 million), Kirloskar Ferrous Industries (Rs. 289.73 million) and Bank Of Baroda (Rs. 231.42 million).
The volume chart was led by Digjam with trades of over 5.38 million shares. It was followed by Vikas Ecotech (3.67 million), I L & F S Investment Managers (3.12 million) and Setco Automotive (3.09 million).
