Asian stock markets are trading mixed on Tuesday. Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 went up 272.67 points or 1.36 percent to trade at 20,384.79. Singapore's Straits Times gained 0.79 points or 0.02 percent to trade at 3,333.73. Taiwan's TAIEX rose 30.76 points or 0.33 percent to trade at 9,286.72.

On the other hand, China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite plunged 173.61 points or 4.6 percent to trade at 3,602.30. Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 122.13 points or 0.48 percent to trade at 25,114.15. South Korea's KOSPI lost 18.15 points or 0.88 percent to trade at 2,035.78. (11:01pm EDT).
