Asian stock markets closed mixed on Tuesday. Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 rose 11.62 points or 0.06 percent to settle at 19,531.63.

While China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite plunged 181.76 points or 4.06 percent to close at 4,298.71. Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 368.28 points or 1.31 percent to end at 27,755.54.

Singapore's Straits Times fell 11.51 points or 0.33 percent to end at 3,471.19. South Korea's KOSPI gained 5.06 points or 0.24 percent to end at 2,132.23. Taiwan's TAIEX declined 24.91 points or 0.25 percent to end at 9,820.13.
