Asian stock markets closed mixed on Thursday as investors took profit amid expectations that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates more aggressively than expected following upbeat U.S. economic data.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 declined 90.45 points or 0.47 percent to settle at 19,347.53. South Korea's KOSPI fell 2.02 points or 0.1 percent to end at 2,081.84. Taiwan's TAIEX lost 28.51 points or 0.29 percent to end at 9,771.25.
China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite rose 16.63 points or 0.52 percent to close at 3,229.62. Hong Kong's Hang Seng went up 112.83 points or 0.47 percent to end at 24,107.70. Singapore's Straits Times gained 8.21 points or 0.27 percent to end at 3,096.69.
