Asian stock markets closed lower on Friday after Wall Street was closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, and investors continued to watch for developments in tense relations between Russia and Turkey.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 fell 60.47 points or 0.3 percent to settle at 19,883.94. China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite plunged 199.25 points or 5.48 percent to close at 3,436.30. Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 420.62 points or 1.87 percent to end at 22,068.32.
While Singapore's Straits Times fell 25.57 points or 0.89 percent to end at 2,859.12. South Korea's KOSPI fell 1.69 points or 0.08 percent to end at 2,028.99. Taiwan's TAIEX fell 86.50 points or 1.02 percent to end at 8,398.40.
