Dollar-rupee futures appreciated on Friday. USDINR September contract went up 19 paise or 0.29 percent at 66.71 as against previous close of 66.52.
The most active September contract touched a high of 66.745 and a low of 66.4275 after opening at 66.51.
A total of 0.84 million contracts were traded till 13:03 pm. Turnover for September contract was at Rs55.63 billion. Meanwhile, open interest was at 1.27 million.
In spot market, rupee has fell 18 paise or 0.27 percent against dollar to trade at 66.43.
Local stock market continued its downtrend in the afternoon trade on Friday tracking weak Asian markets. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading below 13-month low, amid continuous sell-off from foreign investors.
At 12.48 p.m., the Sensex was trading down 571 points or 2.22% at 25,193.78 with 29 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 157.25 points or 2.01% at 7,665.75 with 50 components falling.
