Indian markets rise on Thursday. At 03.04 p.m, the Sensex was trading up 42.96 points or 0.15% at 28,907.67 with 16 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 41.15 points or 0.46% at 8,968.05 with 24 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (3.10%), Wipro (2.20%), Infosys (1.99%), Bharti Airtel (1.23%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.94%), and Larsen & Toubro (0.89%).
On the other hand, Reliance Industries (2.12%), Asian Paints (1.08%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.87%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.84%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.74%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.72%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,127 advances against 1,381 declines.
I T C topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,274.87 million. It was followed by Petronet LNG (Rs. 1,171.18 million), Reliance Industries (Rs. 1,157.31 million) and I C I C I Bank (Rs. 903.44 million).
The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 8.39 million shares. It was followed by Visesh Infotecnics (7.75 million), Jaiprakash Associates (7.05 million) and Idea Cellular (6.85 million).
