Indian equities traded flat on Friday erasing earlier gains. At 9.22 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 26.85 points or 0.09% at 28,746.28 with 20 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 7.45 points or 0.08% at 8,860.
Major losers in the 30-share index were Axis Bank (1.60%), Infosys (0.73%), Bharti Airtel (0.61%), Tata Motors (0.44%), Tata Steel (0.37%), and Hero Motocorp (0.37%).
On the other hand, Larsen & Toubro (0.76%), Reliance Industries (0.67%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.52%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.48%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.41%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.41%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 712 advances against 446 declines.
Tata Consultancy Services topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 607.46 million. It was followed by Asian Paints (Rs. 183.29 million), Eicher Motors (Rs. 157.88 million) and Elantas Beck India (Rs. 52.81 million).
The volume chart was led by G T L Infrastructure with trades of over 1.73 million shares. It was followed by Morepen Laboratories (0.57 million), Sharon Bio-Medicine (0.41 million) and I F C I (0.28 million).
