Indian markets continued its uptrend with Sensex and Nifty touching fresh highs on Friday led by gains in capital goods, auto and banking stocks. At 12.27 p.m., the Sensex was trading up 215.58 points or 0.74% at 29,221.60 with 21 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 46.30 points or 0.53% at 8,807.70 with 32 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (4%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.51%), Tata Motors (2.42%), Larsen & Toubro (2.36%), H D F C Bank (2.23%), and Tata Power Company (1.81%).
On the other hand, G A I L (India) (1.86%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.00%), Infosys (0.77%), Coal India (0.44%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.39%), and Bajaj Auto (0.16%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
The BSE Midcap and Smallcap index declined 0.17% and 0.58% respectively. On sectoral front, the BSE Capital goods gained the most followed by Auto, Realty and Bankex.
