Indian markets continued to rise for the sixth day on Thursday. At 1.53 p.m, the Sensex was trading up 162.29 points or 0.56% at 29,027.00 with 22 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 41.50 points or 0.46% at 8,968.40 with 33 components gaining.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Infosys (2.57%), Bharti Airtel (2.49%), Tata Consultancy Services (2.47%), Wipro (2.10%), Larsen & Toubro (1.68%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.28%).

On the other hand, Reliance Industries (1.87%), NTPC (0.45%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.31%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.10%), Asian Paints (0.03%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (0.03%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 1,214 advances against 1,225 declines.

I T C topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,256.51 million. It was followed by Petronet LNG (Rs. 1,146.73 million), Reliance Industries (Rs. 1,014.88 million) and Maruti Suzuki India (Rs. 855.41 million).

The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 7.52 million shares. It was followed by Idea Cellular (6.02 million), Reliance Communications (5.52 million) and Jaiprakash Associates (4.76 million).
