Sensex rises over 250 points, Nifty above 10,500

Indian markets bounced back on Monday snapping earlier losses. At 9.29 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 256.51 points or 0.75% at 34,262.27 with 27 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 75.70 points or 0.72% at 10,530.65 with 43 components gaining.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (2.83%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.80%), Tata Power Company (1.35%), Bharti Airtel (1.34%), Larsen & Toubro (1.33%), and Hero Motocorp (1.33%).

On the other hand, and State Bank Of India (2.92%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 1,334 advances against 235 declines.

State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 219.69 million. It was followed by Tata Steel (Rs. 156.93 million), H E G (Rs. 99.56 million) and Graphite India (Rs. 76.02 million).

The volume chart was led by Electrosteel Steels with trades of over 11.01 million shares. It was followed by Firstsource Solutions (1.02 million), Suzlon Energy (0.98 million) and State Bank Of India (0.76 million).
