Indian equities continued to trade lower on Monday led by losses in realty, consumer durables and oil & gas stocks. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading below 3-month low.
At 1.31 p.m., the Sensex was trading down 138.51 points or 0.50% at 27,299.43 with 22 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 43 points or 0.52% at 8,262.25 with 41 components falling.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Sesa Sterlite (2.41%), Wipro (1.70%), Axis Bank (1.67%), I C I C I Bank (0.78%), Tata Power Company (0.77%), and Tata Motors (0.65%).
On the other hand, Housing Development Finance Corporation (3.41%), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (3.11%), State Bank Of India (2%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.84%), Hindustan Unilever (1.64%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.58%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
The Realty index was at 1,534.60, down by 38.47 points or by 2.45%. The Consumer Durables index was at 10,343.26, down by 199.02 points or by 1.89%. The Oil & Gas index was at 9,233.33, down by 152.61 points or by 1.63%.
Market breadth was negative with 583 advances against 1,842 declines.
