Indian markets ended flat on Thursday snapping earlier losses. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a rise of 23.20 points or 0.08% at 30,857.52, 15 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 12.85 or 0.14% at 9,504.10 with 26 components posting rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Axis Bank (3.48%), Tata Steel (2.85%), GAIL (India) (1.59%), Cipla (1.43%), Bharti Airtel (1.39%), and Bajaj Auto (1.10%).
On the other hand, Tata Motors (1.40%), State Bank Of India (1.39%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.23%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.70%), Asian Paints (0.49%), and Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.42%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,507 advances against 925 declines.
Central Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,980.35 million. It was followed by Eris Lifesciences (Rs. 796.67 million), Vedanta (Rs. 321.56 million) and Escorts (Rs. 161.25 million).
The volume chart was led by Central Bank Of India with trades of over 33.41 million shares. It was followed by G M R Infrastructure (5.98 million), Reliance Communications (5.69 million) and Reliance Energy Ventures (2.39 million).
