Indian markets continued to gain in early trade for the fourth day on Tuesday.The Nifty was trading at a new life time high. At 9.20 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 50.33 points or 0.17% at 29,408.81 with 18 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 1.55 points or 0.02% at 8,958.30 with 17 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.96%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.19%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.11%), Cipla (0.95%), Wipro (0.66%), and Bajaj Auto (0.65%).
On the other hand, Coal India (5.26%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.57%), Axis Bank (1.42%), Tata Motors (1.40%), I C I C I Bank (1.02%), and I T C (0.96%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.27% and 0.17% respectively.
The HC index was at 16,243.07, up by 92.36 points or by 0.57%. The Oil & Gas index was at 9,745.28, up by 38.79 points or by 0.40%. The Realty index was at 1,823.32, up by 6.78 points or by 0.37%. On the other hand, the Metal index was at 10,414.53, down by 148.49 points or by 1.41%.
