Indian markets continued to rise for the second day on Tuesday. At 9.24 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 134.27 points or 0.39% at 34,585.04 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 6.60 points or 0.06% at 10,578.10 with 19 components falling.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Mahindra & Mahindra (1.52%), Hindustan Unilever (1.15%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.13%), ICICI Bank (0.98%), Reliance Industries (0.95%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.75%).
On the other hand, Wipro (2.14%), Bharti Airtel (1.15%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (1.04%), Tata Steel (0.99%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.49%), and Larsen & Toubro (0.18%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 752 advances against 402 declines.
Hindalco Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 151.40 million. It was followed by Tata Consultancy Services (Rs. 100.64 million), Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers and Chemicals (Rs. 99.18 million) and Indiabulls Ventures (Rs. 93.25 million).
The volume chart was led by RMG Alloy Steel with trades of over 1.99 million shares. It was followed by Jaypee Infratech (1.58 million), Reliance Communications (0.95 million) and National Aluminium Company (0.78 million).
