Indian equities continued to rise for the second day on Wednesday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading at a new life time high. At 10.45 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 121.04 points or 0.40% at 30,064.28 with 17 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 45.80 points or 0.49% at 9,352.40 with 30 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were ITC (1.97%), Asian Paints (1.71%), Tata Steel (1.61%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.41%), GAIL (India) (1.34%), and Tata Motors (1.05%).
On the other hand, Cipla (1.06%), Infosys (0.93%), Reliance Industries (0.42%), Bajaj Auto (0.41%), NTPC (0.36%), and Tata Power Company (0.29%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,252 advances against 981 declines.
Allcargo Logistics topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 7,753.49 million. It was followed by Eicher Motors (Rs. 1,896.64 million), Spicejet (Rs. 328.57 million) and Wipro (Rs. 308.71 million).
The volume chart was led by Allcargo Logistics with trades of over 39.96 million shares. It was followed by Suzlon Energy (5.02 million), Spicejet (3.05 million) and IDFC Bank (2.28 million).
