Indian markets continued to drop for the fifth day on Tuesday. The Nifty was trading below 1-month low. At 9.31 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 50.51 points or 0.15% at 34,565.62 with 19 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 17.35 points or 0.16% at 10,499.35 with 39 components falling.
Major losers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (1.47%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.24%), Hero Motocorp (1.13%), State Bank Of India (1.02%), Tata Power Company (0.95%), and Tata Steel (0.86%).
On the other hand, Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.56%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.13%), Bajaj Auto (1.11%), Coal India (0.87%), Cipla (0.81%), and HDFC Bank (0.61%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 547 advances against 754 declines.
Asian Paints topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 444.89 million. It was followed by Just Dial (Rs. 81.22 million), R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 78.86 million) and D L F (Rs. 54.74 million).
The volume chart was led by Reliance Communications with trades of over 2.07 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (0.93 million), 3i Infotech (0.69 million) and IDBI Bank (0.49 million).
