Indian equities continued to drop for the third day on Monday. At 9.37 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 146.04 points or 0.40% at 36,400.44 with 22 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 56.40 points or 0.52% at 10,887.20 with 41 components falling.
Major losers in the 30-share index were Hero Motocorp (3.14%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.80%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.23%), Larsen & Toubro (1.76%), and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.54%).
On the other hand, Cipla (1.44%), Tata Steel (1.33%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.81%), Wipro (0.64%), Infosys (0.63%), and Tata Consultancy Services (0.55%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 401 advances against 835 declines.
Bharat Financial Inclusion topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 187.02 million. It was followed by Goldcrest Corporation (Rs. 118.34 million), Tata Steel (Rs. 118.28 million) and Indiabulls Housing Finance (Rs. 112.53 million).
The volume chart was led by Punj Lloyd with trades of over 4.17 million shares. It was followed by Goldcrest Corporation (2.22 million), Reliance Power (1.56 million) and Reliance Communications (1.32 million).
