Indian equities ended lower on Tuesday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex declined 261.52 or 0.74% at 35,286.74 with 25 components posting drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty fell by 89.40 or 0.83% at 10,710.45 with 46 components posting drop.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Adani Ports And Special Economic Zone (2%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.94%), Reliance Industries (1.91%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.88%).
On the other hand, ITC (0.76%), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (0.30%), HDFC Bank (0.20%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.11%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 655 advances against 1,722 declines.
Jaiprakash Associates topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 255.52 million. It was followed by CG Power and Industrial Solutions (Rs. 64.05 million), NCC (Rs. 52.35 million) and V-Mart Retail (Rs. 40.48 million).
The volume chart was led by Jaiprakash Associates with trades of over 15.21 million shares. It was followed by CG Power and Industrial Solutions (1.25 million), NCC (0.52 million) and Dynamic Industries (0.20 million).
