Sensex ends 91 points higher; Nifty settles at 10,480

Indian markets ended higher on Friday. Both Sensex and Nifty traded above 1-month high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 91.52 or 0.27% at 34,192.65 with 16 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 21.95 or 0.21% at 10,480.60 with 28 components posting rise.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.66%), Wipro (2.28%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (1.69%), Coal India (1.44%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.37%), and Reliance Industries (1.22%).

On the other hand, State Bank Of India (1.22%), Axis Bank (1.17%), Yes Bank (0.66), Maruti Suzuki India (0.65%), Bharti Airtel (0.61%), Tata Steel (0.54%) and ITC (0.46%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 1,201 advances against 1,254 declines.

Shriram City Union Finance topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,113.32 million. It was followed by HDFC FMP - 1132 D - February 2016 (1) - Series 35 - Direct Plan - Growth (Rs. 981.00 million), Housing Development Finance Corporation (Rs. 856.94 million) and RBL Bank (Rs. 728.31 million).

The volume chart was led by HDFC FMP - 1132 D - February 2016 (1) - Series 35 - Direct Plan - Growth with trades of over 100.00 million shares. It was followed by Kotak FMP Series 131 - Regular Plan - Growth (15.00 million), Jaiprakash Associates (5.79 million) and IDBI Bank (5.67 million).
