Indian markets ended lower on Monday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex declined 181.25 or 0.53% at 34,134.38 with 19 components registering drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went down by 58.30 or 0.57% at 10,245.25 with 35 components posting drop.
Major losers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (3.56%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.07%), Asian Paints (2.95%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (2.75%), Tata Motors (2.43%), and Tata Steel (1.56%).
On the other hand, ICICI Bank (3.84%), NTPC (1.95%), Bajaj Auto (1.86%), H D F C Bank (1.38%), Bharti Airtel (1.34%), and Maruti Suzuki India (1.00%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 757 advances against 1,591 declines.
Dewan Housing Finance Corporation topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 941.15 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 916.58 million), Reliance Industries (Rs. 686.91 million) and Yes Bank (Rs. 629.29 million).
The volume chart was led by Dewan Housing Finance Corporation with trades of over 4.95 million shares. It was followed by State Bank Of India (3.53 million), Yes Bank (2.98 million) and Tata Motors (1.64 million).
