Sensex edges up over 100 points; Nifty above 10,050

Indian markets bounced back on Thursday snapping earlier losses. At 9.30 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 110.02 points or 0.34% at 32,707.20 with 22 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 30.45 points or 0.30% at 10,074.55 with 37 components gaining.

Major gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Steel (1.08%), Hero Motocorp (0.94%), Bharti Airtel (0.93%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.87%), and Larsen & Toubro (0.83%).

On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.36%), Reliance Industries (0.10%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.09%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.07%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (0.03%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was positive with 1,092 advances against 322 declines.

Kotak Mahindra Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 956.13 million. It was followed by Kirloskar Ferrous Industries (Rs. 90.12 million), Jet Airways (India) (Rs. 87.78 million) and Bajaj Holdings & Investment (Rs. 84.96 million).

The volume chart was led by Visagar Polytex with trades of over 2.10 million shares. It was followed by Lycos Internet (2.01 million), Urja Global (1.29 million) and Himachal Futuristic Communications (1.28 million).
