Indian equities pared early gains to trade flat on Friday. IT stocks gained while oil & gas and realty stocks witnessed a fall.
At 11.48 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 7.65 points or 0.03% at 27,465.23 with 13 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 8.95 points or 0.11% at 8,351.10 with 18 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Infosys (3.52%), Hindalco Industries (2.04%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.66%), Larsen & Toubro (1.57%), NTPC (1.29%), and H D F C Bank (1.15%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (2.72%), Reliance Industries (2.61%), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (2.24%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.72%), Hero Motocorp (1.57%), and I T C (1.46%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts declining -0.33% and -0.03% respectively.
The Oil & Gas index was at 9,118.26, down by 147.72 points or by 1.59%. The Realty index was at 1,616.74, down by 25.29 points or by 1.54%. The FMCG index was at 7,621.92, down by 85.26 points or by 1.11%. On the other hand, the IT index was at 11,476.68, up by 221.37 points or by 1.97%.
